VMFL Semi-Final - Sunday, November 16

Longhorns 14 - Nanaimo Redmen 8

In the semi-final game of the playoffs, the North Delta Midget Longhorns beat the Nanaimo Redmen by a score of 14 to 8. It was a great game with only one point being scored in the first half of action. Quarterback Bret Pearson threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Alex Bresnan who outran his opponents to score the first touchdown of the game. He later threw another pass, this time to Marcus Gordon who made a fabulous catch for the 2nd touchdown. Marcus was also key in knocking down a couple of would be completed passes on the Redmen. Roger Smith rounded out the scoring with perfect kicks – two for two on the converts.

Great hits and tackles were made by Jon Paras, Roger Smith, Riley Delaney, Carlo Graziano, Shane Hicks and Matthew MacBride.

Congratulations, Longhorns! Next, it’s on to to the Championship Game!


Playoff Round 1 - Sunday, November 9

Longhorns 26 - Coquitlam Falcons 0

In the North Delta Midget Longhorn’s 1st playoff game against the Coquitlam Falcons the Longhorns beat the Falcons by a score of 26 to 10. After throwing a couple of great passes to both Jerry Sidhu and Sean O’Neil, quarterback Bret Pearson ran in the remaining yards for the Longhorns first touchdown. Sean O’Neil scored the second touchdown on a short pass. After another great drive down the field, Riley Delaney muscled his way into the end zone for the major. The last touchdown came with a little bit of help from blocker, Shane Hicks who made sure Riley Delaney got into the end zone.

Roger Smith rounded out the scoring with 2 converts.

Week 10 - Sunday, November 2

Longhorns 7 - Nanaimo Redmen 0

In the last game of the regular season, the North Delta Midget Longhorns beat the Nanaimo Redmen by a score of 7 to 0. It was a well fought battle that had all players meeting the challenge on the field. Quarterback Bret Pearson, threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Alex Bresnan who outran his opponents to score the only touchdown of the game. Roger Smith rounded out the scoring with the convert. Great hits and tackles were made by Jovan Dale, Roger Smith, Riley Delaney, Matthew MacBride and Shane Hicks.

The Longhorns finish up the regular season in 2nd place!

Week 9 - Sunday, October 26th

Longhorns 33 - Langley Stampeders 10

In the North Delta Midget Longhorn’s 9th regular season game against the Langley Stampeders, the Longhorns beat the Stampeders by a score of 33 to 10. Ending a great drive down the field, Bret Pearson ran in the remaining 8-yards for the Longhorns first touchdown. Riley Delaney not only blocked a punt, but recovered it as well. This led to a 55-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bret Person to Marcus Gordon. With some awesome blocking from Sukhraj Chahal, Jon Paras, Matt Ferraro and Jordan Craig, Riley Delaney ran 50 yards into the end zone. An interception by Alex Bresnan set up the next touchdown scored by Bret Pearson. On the last drive of the game, Shane Hicks muscled his way down the field to score. Roger Smith rounded out the scoring with 3 converts.

Week 8 - Sunday , October 19th

Longhorns 35 - Victoria Spartan Warriors 0

The North Delta Midget Longhorns beat the Victoria Spartan Warriors 35 to 0. A fifty-five-yard drive on their first possession ended with a short yards pass from Quarterback Bret Pearson, to Carlo Graziano who ran it in to score the first touchdown. A fumble recovery by Riley Delaney set up the next touchdown scored by Matthew MacBride. Marching down the field again, Bret Pearson ran his touchdown in on short yards. He then threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Alex Bresnan who ran for another 25 yards into the end zone.

Once again, Riley Delaney muscled his way through the line to recover another fumble and ended up converting the turn over to a touchdown himself later on in the drive. Riley Delaney, Cody Hawkins, Shane Hicks, Matthew Ferraro and Jonathan Paras made it impossible to beat them defensively!

Great win!!


Week 7 - Wednesday , October 15th

Longhorns 28 - Westside Warriors 6

The North Delta Midget Longhorns beat the Westside Warriors by a score of 28 to 6. After marching down the field, breaking tackles left and right, Carlo Graziano ran the final 8-yards in for the Longhorns first touchdown. An awesome fumble recovery by Matt Ferraro quickly led to Bret Pearson’s 8-yard run into the end zone. This definitely set the tone for the rest of the game. Riley Delaney caught an interception at the 35-yard line and ran it in for the major. With the awesome blocking of the Offensive team, Bret Pearson added his second touchdown, running 50-yards to score!

Great defensive plays by Jacob Vanderwood, Jovan Dale, Derek Steiner and Cody Hawkins helped shut down any scoring in the second half. Roger Smith kicked four for four in converts rounding out the points.

The Longhorns will play their next game this Sunday in Victoria to play the Victoria Spartan Warriors.


Week 6 - Sunday, October 5th

Longhorns 35 - Cowichan Bulldogs 7

The Midget North Delta Longhorns beat the Cowichan Bulldogs by a score of 35 to 7 in the 6th regular season game! Carlo Graziano started off the scoring with a 6-yard run into the end zone. He later added another one in the second half. Quarterback Bret Pearson threw an 11- yard pass to Sean O’Neil, a 25-yard pass to Matthew MacBride and a 40-yard pass to Alex Bresnan all scoring touchdowns for the Longhorns.

Defensive players Riley Delaney, Jovan Dale, Matt Ferraro, Humraaz Samra and Jordan Craig made it impossible for this game to be close. Roger Smith rounded out the scoring kicking 5 perfect converts.

Week 5 - Sunday, September 28th

Longhorns 41 - North Shore Wolverines 7

Lots of scoring in this game! Jerry Sidhu led off the scoring with a 25-yard run into the end zone. Quarterback Bret Pearson was on his game throwing passes to Alex Bresnan and Matthew McBride – both running them in for majors as well as throwing to Sean O’Neil and Cody Hawkins with 2-point conversions.

Riley Delaney made a terrific play by catching an interception, running 40-yards and scoring. Carlo Graziano and Sean O’Neil also ran in touchdowns. Roger Smith finished up kicking a perfect convert. Derek Steiner, Christian Montinola, Jon Paras and Jordan Craig all made some great plays.

Week 3 - Sunday, September 14th

Longhorns 30 - Richmond Raiders 0

Carlo Graziano led off the scoring with a 17-yard run into the end zone. Quarterback Bret Pearson threw 2 awesome 55-yard passes to Alex Bresnan who ran them both in for majors. Cody Hawkins and Alex Bresnan both caught interceptions during the game and Humraaz Samra came up with a great fumble recovery. Jerry Sidhu scored our last touchdown when he ran it back 80 yard off the kick off at the start of the second half.

Carlo Graziano added to the score with 3 perfect kicks and one run into the end zone. Bret Pearson finished up kicking a rouge point through the end zone.

Riley Delaney, Cody Hillhouse, Derek Steiner, Sharif Ali and Christian Montinola made great defensive plays.

Way to go Longhorns!


Week 1 - Sunday, August 31st

Longhorns 14 - Coquitlam Falcons 7

Quarterback Bret Pearson led off the scoring for the Longhorns with a 25-yard pass to Jon Paras who ran it into the end zone. This came just after an awesome interception by Jerry Sidhu on defense. Bret also threw a 30-yard pass to Alex Bresnan who made an amazing catch and ran it for another 30 yards into the end zone. Riley Delaney, Roger Smith, Derek Steiner and Christian Montinola made great defensive plays. Jovan Dale was perfect in kicking, adding 2 points to the score.

The final score was North Delta Longhorns 14, Coquitlam Falcons 7.
